I got in trouble again....

Jackie once again gently reminded me that I haven't written in a while! :-) Updating the blog has been on my list of things to do but it's funny how that list just gets longer and longer these days. Noah is so busy, it's so hard to get things done and when he's finally in bed, we are exhausted!

The holiday weekend was great. We went back to the lake and hung out with my parents. We were at their new place up there and it's so nice... lots more room and a great lake view! (By the way, if anyone is looking to buy a place at Lake Gaston, let me know... they are still trying to sell their other place - that one is great, too!
Anyway, Noah is still not into the boat at all. He doesn't like the life jacket and I think the rocking scares him a little, too. All he wants to do is cling to someone then fall asleep. At one point, he grabbed onto a pole and didn't want to let go. When I tried to move him, he whined until I put him back next to it so he could hold on. It was really cute. He'll love it one day!

So, most of the weekend we just relaxed and ate... a lot! My dad made "mass quantities of food" as he likes to say and it was all so yummy! I couldn't believe I actually lost weight at my Weight Watchers weigh in this week (okay it was only 0.2 lbs, but still!) :-) (by the way, it's slowly but surely coming off... 8.6 lbs to get back to wedding weight).
Waylon and I took a few hours alone on the lake one morning, packed a lunch and took a few beers out and just parked the boat and relaxed. That was really nice. Those moments are really becoming precious the more and more 'busy' Noah gets.
My mom had gotten Noah his own porch chair and although he's still a little too small to sit in it, he found another use for it. He pushed it around all weekend and by the end of the weekend was practically running behind it all over the porch. He's now 'cruising' with ease.

He's also learned to hug in the past week or so. He now will wrap his arms around your neck and lay his head on your shoulder. It's the best feeling in the world. Especially when he does it when I pick him up from daycare in the afternoons!

The last shot from the weekend... yet again, I couldn't resist and didn't stop him from doing this. What a great weekend!! Thanks, Grammy and Papa!

This morning, we had our pre-op apppointment with the ENT. It was mainly a lot of paperwork and information. Noah of course does not have ear infections right now... right when we are about to do the surgery (he did still have a little fluid in one ear and negative pressure in the other). The doc still thought it was a good idea to go ahead and get it done, so we are on for surgery on Tuesday. I'm nervous, but from what they say, it's really no big deal and he will be in and out very quickly, so hopefully I won't have too much time to worry before we are back with him again.

Here are a few more pics from the weekend....

Weekend Away and Medical Update

This past weekend, I went away for Girls' Weekend at the lake! It was great. We had lots of good food and drinks, beautiful weather and girlie movies. :-) I was nervous about missing Noah too much but I really enjoyed myself!! At first, it was strange to try to just relax and not think about diapers or feedings or other baby stuff but I quickly got used to it and enjoyed my time 'off'. Waylon did great with Noah all weekend and they seemed to have a lot of fun together. This was my practice run for leaving in June for 5 nights to the Dominican Republic and it was great! I was already excited about the trip but now even more so!

Some pics from the weekend...

An update on Noah's medical issues. Basically, we aren't sure what is/has been going on with him but it could be many different things. After he started on antibiotics and spiked a 103 fever on Mother's day, the fever went down a little but not enough over the next few days. When he still had a significant fever on Tuesday, we took him back to the pediatrician and they gave him a shot of antibiotics and also switched the oral antibiocs he'd been on. Along with the fever, he hadn't been too interested in his bottle which we have blamed on either the ear infections... or the 4 molars coming in... or a virus that's been going around the daycare. Who knows! On top of all that, he's pulling up on everything these days so when he wakes up at night, he stands right up in the crib and then gets frustrated. He knows how to sit down but I think in the middle of the night, he just gets confused or something! :-) He's been doing better recently, so I think the ear infections are doing better as of now and I'm pretty sure most of the problems are the teeth. So we called the ENT last week and we are now scheduled for surgery on June 3rd.

Here are a few shots of Noah after I got home from the lake. I know I shouldn't have been encouraging this but it was so cute....

This weekend we are heading back to the lake for Memorial Day weekend. This time, Waylon Noah and I will be meeting my parents. I'm excited to go back so soon!

Happy (and Sad) Mother's Day

Well, it's been a rough few days around here and I've kinda been avoiding writing about this on here. Last Tuesday night, my Gramma took a turn for the worse and she passed away on Thursday morning. Although she's been through a lot in the past year or so, it still came as a shock and happened so quick (which really was a good thing for her). At 88, she lived a very full life, and I'm so grateful that Noah was able to know her for 10 months. I'm going to miss her so much.

So yesterday we went to Albemarle for a long sad day. Noah did great but we could tell he was a little off. Before we got ready to leave, we took his temp and it was up to 102.6. This morning we took him back to the doctor and guess what? Yup, ear infections are back. As a side note, we went to the ENT on Thursday and he told us Noah was definitely a candidate for tubes but recommended that we wait another month and see if they clear for the summer. Well, obviously that's not going to happen because only 4 days later, they are back - and with a vengeance this time. The doc this morning put him back on antibiotics again and we'll be calling the ENT this week to set up the tube process. Tonight, his fever spiked to 103.1, so we are on watch tonight to try to keep it down. I hope the antibiotics will kick in soon and help him feel better. This is the worst one so far.

I love you Mom, but I don't feel well!!
On top of all that, I also have a pretty nasty cold and sliced my finger while cleaning a knife tonight. Okay, enough of my whining.

Now, the happy part of Mother's Day.... Waylon and Noah each got me a card and they also got me a double sided picture frame with a picture of Noah on one side and a clay imprint of his footprints on the other! It's so adorable and will be a great keepsake. I love it!

Hope you all had a fabulous Mother's Day today.

Weekly Post

It's still something new every day now. Noah is pulling up on everything and cruising the furniture with ease now. Well, maybe not ease... he's still a little slow, but he is pretty confident (and I'm getting there, too). He's actually using Savannah's toy to walk for real now. He's also now finally able to go from laying down to sitting on his own. Before we know it, he'll be running all over the place. He's also eating all kinds of 'real' foods now... cheese, turkey, veggies, crackers.... it's fun to watch him feed himself.

To update about the ears. He did have ear infections in both ears (this makes 6 since Jan), so he's on antibiotics yet again and we are off to the ENT this Thursday. I assume we'll end up with tubes but it will be good to get the ENT's thoughts about the whole situation. The antibiotics seemed to make him feel better, as usual, but he's been waking up at night the past few nights again. We weren't sure what was going on until today when I looked in his mouth and realized that one (and maybe two) molars are trying to break through. Fun fun... more teething!

We had a fun weekend. Saturday night we had a neighborhood block party and Noah got his first kiss! We grilled out burgers and hot dogs and sausages and everyone brought a side dish or dessert to share. It was so nice to get to know the neighbors better (and meet some, too). Madelyn is a little girl who lives down the street and also happens to go to the same daycare as Noah. She's a little older than Noah (maybe 15 months or so?). She kept trying to kiss Noah, but Noah was trying to be faithful to Stella Dot and kept pushing her face away. Finally, Noah decided that Abner can have Stella Dot and let Maddie kiss him. :-) It was so cute. We went inside around 7:30 to put Noah down and since the party was right out in front of our house, we grabbed the monitor and stayed at the party until 1AM! It was so much fun! Luckily, Noah let us sleep in until 7:30 the next morning but we were still pretty tired on Sunday.

Here's a shot from the block party... you can see Maddie toddling around in the background.

Sunday afternoon, we went to visit our friends JB and Courtney who had a new baby, Hudson, three weeks ago. He was, of course, adorable and so were there other two kids, Keenan and Campbell. It was nice to visit with them and hold another newbie. While we were there, Noah got his second kiss from Campbell... he really likes those older women!

Back to work tomorrow... then we have several fun weekends coming up. This weekend is my first real Mother's Day, the weekend after that I'm going to the lake with some girlfriends and leaving Noah and Waylon for some father/son bonding time (my first overnight away from Noah!), and then the following weekend we are going back to the lake again for Memorial Day with my parents. Fun times!!

A few more cute shots from the weekend....
