Just Kidding!

So last week, we made the decsion for me to stay home full time and, after having a week to get used to the idea and convince ourselves that this was the right thing to do, we were finally able to tell everyone since Waylon had officially resigned at work. That was Tuesday. Then, Wednesday morning, I got a phone call from my old boss. He offered me my job back at my old hours - three days a week, 8:30-4:00 (as opposed to 4 days a week that he offered me the week before). We thought through it once again and decided that going back at these hours will be the right thing to do.

It sure has been a roller coaster of a few months for me! It's been hard because we make a decision and decide that it's the best thing and then another opportunity comes around and we have to now change our decision and justify why all the reasons we had made the other one are wrong! (do you follow that?!) :-) Anyway, I really did think both options were great so I don't think I really could have lost in the situation so that's good. It's nice to have choices! In the end, we decided that my old hours will give us the flexibility we need and still give me some adult interaction and be able to keep up in the working world. I'll still have more time at home than at work which I'm happy about and I know Noah thrives in school, so I know Kylie will, too.

I'm not going to start until March 29th which will give us a few weeks to settle into Waylon's new job and schedule (he starts March 10th) and then my mom will come down and keep Kylie for my first two weeks back. That will be good because it will delay daycare for her a little more so she'll be almost 6 months before she starts (the same age that Noah started) and it will be a little warmer so maybe she won't get so sick when she starts!

So, that's it for now. Check back next week to see if we've changed our minds again! :-) Just kidding, we are hoping this is the final decision for now but you never know! The only thing constant in life is change, right???

Our Big News!

So I've been waiting on this post until everything was for sure but it is now and it was a big week last week! Today, Waylon gave his notice at his current job because he is going to be the Controller at Quanta Technology! This is a huge step for him - and for all of us! He's so excited and will be starting in a few weeks.

In the middle of all of this, my old boss called and offered me my job back. They wanted me to come back 4 days a week though and with all this going on with Waylon, we decided that it might be best for me to stay home right now. So, I'm now officially a stay at home mom! We are going to keep Noah in school in the mornings still. He likes it and it's good for him so that will be good.

Big changes in our household this week!

During all these big decisions last week, Grammy was here to help! As always, I packed the week with appointments and things I can't usually get done during the week. Everyone had a great time!

My mom rode down with her friend Roz, so during Noah's nap two Sundays ago, Kylie and I rode out to Southpoint Mall to pick her up. Then all three of us met Noah and Kylie over at Nana and Grandad's for dinner. Of course, Andrea, Sean and Savannah were there, too. Mayhem and so much fun as usual!

A rare picture with all the grandkids

Kylie had a doctors appointment last Monday. She weighed in at 16lbs, 1oz - a little smaller than I thought she'd be considering she was 16lbs 3 oz at her last appointment around 3 months but she had clothes on that time and it was a different scale so who knows. They aren't concerned considering she's still in the 95th percentile for weight! :-) At least she's back on the charts now though! She was 75th-90th for height and head circumfrence as well. She had two shots and an oral vaccine and was a trooper through that (and so was Grammy!). She was a little fussier than normal after these so I think they bothered her a little but nothing too bad. Oh, you might notice in this picture that she also had a touch of pink eye so we got some drops and it cleared up pretty quickly.

Noah has been doing great without the paci at night but naps are still a struggle. I fought and fought and then just went the easy route and started staying with him until he fell asleep. He just keeps saying he's not tired and doesn't want to sleep but once he's still, he'll sleep for 2 hours still! Last week was easy with Grammy here but we need to work on it for when I'm here alone with both kids. Yesterday and today he's fallen asleep in the car on the way home from school so that's been easy, too.

A few other cute pictures that Grammy took that week...

On Wednesday, Noah had his first dentist appointment! I was such a proud mom! He walked right up, hopped in the chair and opened his mouth, ready for the cleaning! I'm sure it helped that they had a TV with the movie Cars on it, too!! The hygentist said for the first cleaning, they usually just clean their teeth with a regular toothbrush but I told them that I thought he'd be okay with the spinbrush, so they used that and he was perfect! Then they 'painted' his teeth with flouride and he was perfect again. The dentist came in and she and the dental hygentist were both oohing and ahhing over how great he did - especially for his age (like I said, proud mom - I have to brag!!). :-)

A cute one of Grammy and Noah

Thursday, we did the professional pictures - afterwards I got a cute shot of Kylie sitting up - she can't do it for too long but she is doing it! I've realized that she's a real baby now (not an infant) and it's kinda sad in a way. Also very exciting though!!

Thursday afternoon, we thought it was nice out so we decided to go out and let Noah ride his bike. It was a little more chilly and windy than we expected so it was a quick trip but it was good to get some fresh air anyway.

A good idea as to what Kylie does all the time now - hands in the mouth! We are pretty sure she's teething and that we can see some white under the gums. It wouldn't be crazy for her to get teeth very soon. Noah got his first two at 4 months, too! Also, check out the adorable outfit Nana got for her. :-)

Grammy and Noah playing trains
Friday morning, we took Grammy back to Southpoint to meet Roz. Noah had fun playing in the play area in the mall and then we had a snack at Panera before they headed back to the snowy north!
Saturday was a fun day. Noah and Waylon ran errands in the morning and then after NOah went down for his nap, Nana and Grandad came over to keep the kids while we went to the NC State/Wake Forest basketball game. Waylon got box seat tickets from people at work so we enjoyed free food and drinks while we were there, too! Lots of fun and another 'date day'. Thanks yet again, Nana and Grandaddy!
Sunday was a pretty day, so Noah and I met Amy and Stella Dot at the park to play and have a picnic. Then, Waylon grilled sausages for dinner and we all had spring fever (even though yesterday was back to nasty cold weather. Hopefully we'll be on tire swings a lot pretty soon!!

Hope you all are having a great week! We sure are with our new adventures to come!!

Professional Pictures

I'll post more of our busy week with Grammy later but here's one thing we did this week - got professional shots of the kids. We were a little late for Kylie's 3 month pictures (she's 4 months now) but we figured better late than never! :-) I thought we got some really great shots!

Happy Valentine's Day!

So the Paci Fairy thing went well but the sleeping isn't going as great. Noah happily gave up his pacis and although bedtime went well the first night, it hasn't been as smooth sailing since then. He hasn't been asking for the pacis though - he knows they are gone and is fine with it. He just has to learn how to settle himself and get sleepy without the paci. Naps are the real battle right now but we are getting there. The dentist will be happy that we've given them up - Noah has his first appointment on Wednesday.

This is what the Paci Fairy brought him - a Buzz Lightyear doll!! He was so excited!

On Tuesday morning, Kylie and I had a playdate with my neighbor Morgan and her daughter Phoenix! Phoenix is 2 months older and we are so excited that they are becoming fast friends! :-)

We got Noah's jumperoo down from the attic this week and Kylie loves it! She hasn't quite figured out how to really jump yet but she loves looking at everything. She'll be jumping in no time.

On Thursday morning, Noah, Kylie and I went to visit Jacque, Elizabeth and Jacob and some other friends, Laura and Lee were there, too. We had some playtime and lunch. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures but we had fun.

Friday afternoon, I had some errands to run alone, so Waylon took both kids to Noah's school for his Valentine's party. Again, no pictures - I meant to send the camera with Waylon but I forgot and had it in my bag.

Friday night, we got snow again!! This time, it was nice fluffy sticky snow so on Saturday morning, we were able to make a snowman with Maddie. So fun!

Perfect for Valentines - two snow angels in a heart. :-)

Our attempt at a family picture with frosty. Noah didn't want to be in the picture. :-)

Friday afternoon, Waylon took off with Uncle Sean to the State/UNC game so Maddie came over to help make valentine's cookies. They had a really good time.

Such concentration

Enjoying the fruits of their labor!

Later, Stella Dot came over too and they played hard for a while. We couldn't believe I managed to get this great shot of all three of them!!!!

So far this morning, we've exchanged cards and have just been playing but Grammy is coming to visit this afternoon and staying the week! Tonight we are all going to Nana and Grandad's house for dinner so that will be nice, too!
Happy Valentine's Day!!

Fun week and the Paci Fairy!

Last Sunday, when we were still homebound from the snow, we had Janet, Frank, Maddie and Mason over for a pizza dinner and some playtime. Noah and Maddie played really well and had a good time. They played up in Noah's room for a while which was a nice break for us. We were able to actually talk! :-)

All the kids in the gymini

We had a good, low key week last week. The roads were still pretty bad on Monday so we kept Noah home from school. Then Tuesday was his first half day at school. When I picked him up, I told him we were going to go home and take a nap and he said, 'I don't want to go home! My bed is at school!' It was cute. It's nice to know he loves it there.

Thursday, we went to storytime with Andrea and Savannah and then back to play at their house again. I didn't take any pictures this time but they had fun.

A cute shot - she loves these little 'lovey' things to snuggle with during nap

On Friday, Jennie came over to hang out for a bit so that was nice to have company. While she was there, Noah wanted to watch Toy Story, so we turned it on and made him some popcorn. It was a nice treat for a Friday afternoon.

Saturday, Nana and Grandad came over to watch the kids for a few hours while Waylon and I had a 'date day'. We had a nice lunch out and then drove around looking at houses - nothing serious yet but we are just looking around a little.
Nana and Grandad with Noah and Kylie
Saturday night after the kids went to bed, I went out to dinner with my friend Brandy. It was really nice to catch up with her and get out at night!
Sunday afternoon while Noah was napping, I went to a baby shower and that evening we went to our friends house for a small Superbowl gathering. Noah had a great time running around their house and Kylie was good, too.

I happen to love this outfit! :-)

Megan - ready to pop any day!

Adorable

We've been talking about the "Paci Fairy" coming to get Noah's pacis and today he told us he wanted her to come tonight. So before bedtime, he gathered them all together and put them in a box outside his door. Tonight, she is going to take the pacis away and leave a present (a Buzz Lightyear doll). :-) I wasn't sure how bedtime would go but he went right down just like a normal night! After we read books in his chair, he climbed in bed and said, 'I'm not a baby anymore!' I sang him a song like normal and that was that! He never ceases to amaze me. He's been down for about an hour and a half so far so we'll see how the rest of the night goes and also how naps and bedtime go over the next few days but I'm pretty happy with how it went tonight!
Enjoy your week!

This is pretty crazy....

NOAH - 3 months

KYLIE - 3 months
