2 month checkup

Today was the dreaded day. Noah had his 2 month physical and shots. It actually wasn't as bad as I had imagined it to be... now we'll see how the next 24-48 hours goes.

Brace yourselves now, here are the stats. Since birth, he has grown 2 1/2 inches and is now 24 inches long - that's the 90th percentile for his age. The weight is the big one... he is now 15 lbs, 11 oz!!!! He's gained 6 lbs, 12 oz since his birthday!! He is off the chart for percentile in weight. :-) The doctor told us she thinks he's the biggest 2 month old she's ever seen! Wow. She also said it's okay that he's so big, so that's good.

The shots went as well as can be expected. He screamed and turned bright red when the nurse stuck him but as soon as it was over, he stopped. We gave him some tylenol just before he got them, so hopefully that will help with any side effects he may get. The doc said that he might be fussy and run a little bit of a fever over the next 48 hours. So far, he's still happy, so that's good.

He's doing really well with sleeping at night. I'll feed him around 9:00 and we'll put him down. He usually wakes up around 2 or so for a diaper change (usually Daddy's duty - or doodie), but he'll go right back to sleep until about 3 or 4 when he wakes up again to eat (my duty... and sometimes doodie). :-) Again, he'll go right back to sleep until 7 or 7:30! Good boy!

We've just been so lucky to have such a great baby. I guess that means the next one will be trouble, huh? :-) And no... no time soon!!!

Here's a shot of our little thinker. He's already contemplating the world in his dreams.

Social Butterfly

We've had a busy week and weekend, so I'll tell you about it and overload you with pictures, too! :-)

At the beginning of last week, my mom decided that she couldn't take not seeing Noah anymore. We couldn't figure out a time when we would see them before the end of September, so she decided to fly down and hang out with us for a few days. She came on Wednesday night and stayed until Saturday morning - my dad drove down to pick her up on Friday afternoon. It was nice to have some company on Thursday while Waylon was at work. Friday was one of Waylon's days off (he gets every other Friday off), so he took Noah to visit his old coworkers at UNC... some good Daddy and son time. While they were gone, my mom and I went to get pedicures and manicures!

On Friday, my dad drove down to pick up mom and we, along with Waylon's parents, went out to get our favorite food, Mexican! Always fun!

Saturday morning we were off to Greensboro for Megan and Jason's wedding. Along the way we also got to visit some great friends, too.

We first went to see Steven and Kate. Steven was the first person Waylon met when they moved to NC when he was young. They have been the best of friends for a long time. Steven and his wife, Kate, made us a great lunch and we go to walk around their cute neighborhood with an amazing lake and park very close to their house. Noah enjoyed that.
We then went to Jessica and Kevin's house to get ready for the wedding. Jessica was my roommate and very good friend from NC State (before she went to the dark side and transfered to UNC). :-) We used their house and them as hotel and babysitters. We did take Noah to the wedding and part of the reception, but Jessica came to pick him up around 9:00 and we got to enjoy the party as adults for a while afterwards!

Megan and Jason's wedding was beautiful - between the two of us, we got to see the whole thing! :-) We thought we'd keep Noah quiet by feeding him a bottle during the ceremony but we both forgot how loud he is when he eats! He was gulping and slurping, so we tag teamed - Waylon saw the first half and I saw the second. The reception was a blast, too... Noah did great during that and as usual, was passed around and met lots of new people. Here is the beautiful bride with our little man... Jason should be jealous... or scared, maybe! :-)

It was fun to get all dressed up and go out all together. The family picture is at Jess and Kevin's just before we left for the wedding and I'm also posting a picture of the outfit we had Noah in when we were trying it on at home. He doesn't do well with hats, so he didn't really wear it, but it's really cute! :-)

Sunday morning, we went to get breakfast at a cute little diner with Jessica and Kevin and then headed back to Raleigh. We were all pretty tired. Here's Noah relaxing after we got back home.

All in all, it was a great week and weekend! Here is one last shot I couldn't help but post! Also, I want to say congratulations to Evia, one of my friends from pre-natal yoga, who had her son, Elijah, today - you can see her blog linked to the right - Eli's world.

Smiles, Baths and Fun!

Wow, I can't believe it's been a week since I've posted. The days just fly by these days. Can you believe Noah will be 6 weeks old tomorrow!

When I wrote last week I forgot to say that he's been sleeping in his crib at night for a few weeks now! Before that, we had him in the pack and play in our bedroom. He's been sleeping really well... about 5-6 hours at a stretch. Even then, I'll feed him and then he'll go right back to sleep.

He smiles back at us a lot these days. He even giggles a little. I caught one on camera - but it's so much cuter when he does it in person! Sorry it's off-center. I was trying to hold the camera in his direction while looking at him and trying to get him to smile! :-)

We took Noah out to his first happy hour on Friday! Really, we just met everyone out for dinner on Friday after work. :-) He was awake, alert, and calm the whole time... and of course passed around to everyone. He's such a good baby! Last night we went out for a friends birthday to a nice restaurant downtown. Again, he was so good... this time he slept most of the time. I'm so glad we are able to get out while he's immobile. I know eventually we won't be able to do these kinds of things with him. Tonight we are going to Nana and Grandad's for dinner... Noah loves to socialize!

Yesterday he reached a big milestone, too... his umbilical cord fell off... FINALLY! Usually, they fall off after only about 2 weeks, so his hung on for a while (the doc said this was okay). I was so excited when it finally came off. So, today we got to give him a real bath! So exciting! He seemed to really enjoy it. He kicked around in the water a lot. Here are a few pictures from that...

Here's one more adorable picture of Noah!

Date Night

Waylon and I had our first date night last night. After just a few tears as we drove away, I was okay! :-) We went downtown and got some great sushi and then walked down to a coffee shop. We were only gone for about 2 1/2 hours, but it was nice to go out by ourselves.

This date night was in celebration of my birthday that is on Tuesday, so Waylon brought my gift - he, my parents, and his parents all went in together on a $300 gift card to spafinder.com!! I can choose which spa to go to and get a full spa package!! I can't WAIT! I'm so excited. Nana and Grandad (Waylon's parents) babysat for us and I think they really enjoyed spending the time with Noah, too so it was good all around!

Noah turned 1 month old on Thursday!! He is such a big boy! We just put him on our scale again this morning and he was 13.3 lbs! I can't get over how much weight he is gaining. The smiles are so much fun, too. The real ones are still far and few between, but it's so rewarding when he actually gives back. It gives me a taste of how fun it's going to be when he really starts interacting with us. I'll add a few more pictures for your enjoyment! :-)

He was actually sleeping like this for a long time.

Noah doesn't like being dressed up... this is an adorable outfit my mom got him.

A real smile?!

Noah in an adorable outfit in Daddy's chair
(this chair used to be my Poppop's - Noah's great grandfather)

I'm pretty sure Noah is smiling back at us now! I wasn't sure the first time, but it's happened a few times now. If he's looking right at us and we are smiling and cooing at him, he'll smile! It's going to be so much fun when he really starts interacting with us.

He's already changed so much... and GROWN! We put him on the scale again on Monday and he weighed in at a whopping 12.4 lbs! Crazy. I can't believe how fast he's growing. It will be interesting to see if our scale is correct at his 2 month appointment.

Yesterday, Noah and I went to see Daddy at work. We showed him off to all of Waylon's coworkers and then went out to lunch. I'm taking Noah back to my work tomorrow. He's already met most people, but I'm pretty sure he'll get to meet Abby for the first time - my coworker's new daughter who was born 3 days before him.

The bottle feeding is still going well. It's so nice to go out and not have to watch the clock too much. I think Waylon and I may even have our first official date night this weekend by ourselves. We want to do this at least once a month. I'll be nervous about leaving him, but I know it's important for us as a couple to establish this tradition.

Here is another cute picture - this one is of our two boys at the end of a long day. :-)
