March - Part 2 - The Lake Trip!

While Waylon was off on his guys trip to Charleston, the kids and I went to spend the weekend with Grammy and Papa at the lake.  I was so excited because it's the first lake trip of the season and they were calling for beautiful weather on Friday!  So I actually packed up the car, picked up the kids from school on Thursday and got on up there that night so that we'd have the whole day to enjoy on Friday.  We arrived even before Grammy and Papa and I got the kids to bed - a little late but they went down easy.  They were of course up bright and early though - so excited to see Grammy and Papa.

First order of business is to get ready for some fishing!
We went out on the beach around 10am and the plan was to just play in the sand for a bit until it warmed up but it was already HOT!  So we all stripped down to our bathing suits and acted like it was summer!  So nice.

Happy Kiddos!

Fun in the sand
I told them they could wade in the water but it was really too cold to swim.... but then Noah tripped and fell in.  When he stood up, this was his reaction.. love this series of pictures....  :-)

He's not sure - notice Kylie laughing!

Ok that was cool!!
So off they went to swim!  They must have been numb but it was warm enough outside to warm up afterwards so whatever!!  :-)

Kylie tried to fish - notice the line on Papa's fishing pole!!!

Then we decided to go for a boat ride!  Noah was so excited!  :-)

Look at that BOY!  He's so big!
Kylie absolutely LOVES the boat this year!  It was so cute to watch.  We started going fast and she just squealed with excitement the whole time!  She's going to be our little daredevil.  My parents said she reminds them of me.  :-)

I think she liked the feel of the wind in her mouth cause she kept making this face.  :-)

So happy (even though Noah doesn't look it - the sun was in his eyes)!!

We had lunch at the marina and then fed the fish - I think it was the first time they had been fed this season - wonder what in the world they ate all winter?!  :-)

Feeding the fish
Of course both kids had to drive the boat on the way back.... serious business  :-)

Then Kylie laid right down on the front of the boat and took a nap!  I told you.... flexible with naps these days!  :-)

That means relaxing time for Mommy too - this is my happy place!

I think everyone was a little tired.  Kylie changed locations and went to snuggle with Grammy and Noah laid down, too!  :-)

Cutie Patootie that night - we took this picture for Daddy.  :-)

Saturday was a complete 180 from Friday.  It was rainy and nasty!  So we took a trip to the big town (note sarcasm) of South Hill, VA.  We went to the Chamber of Commerce where they had a train garden and a doll museum.  Very interesting.  :-)  The kids had fun....

Then we went to lunch and went to see The Lorax at a very small theater there.  The kids loved it - really cute movie!!

When we got back, we had a little time to fish before dinner.  I actually caught a small one that night!  How fun.  :-)

Baiting the hook.

Kylie wasn't sure about the 'wormy worms'

Dancing with Grammy to 'Red Solo Cup' - one of their new favorite songs!

Noah must have played with this worm for about 15 minutes.  And a lot of the time, he was chasing Kylie with it.  Gotta love brothers.  :-)

Here Kylie was actually interested!

YAY!  A fish!

Love how Kylie is looking at Papa here.
After dinner, Grammy hid Easter eggs in the basement.  The kids had a blast looking for them.  That night just before bedtime, Noah gave my mom a hug and said, 'Thank you for doing the Easter Egg Hunt for us' (completely unprompted).  So sweet.  I guess we are doing something right, huh?  :-)

Eating m&ms afterwards
Sunday morning, while I was packing and cleaning up, Grammy and Papa took the kids to fish one last time.  This time, Noah and Kylie each caught two fish and Papa caught a big catfish!  Wow!

Apparently they put on a show on the boat, too!  :-)
We left the lake around 1:30 and got home around 3 and then Daddy got home from his fun trip around 5.  It was a nice trip for everyone!!

And last but not least, Part 3 coming soon...
