Weekend update

Last Thursday was Noah's real birthday and Waylon and I gave him his tricycle. He LOVED it as you can see! He hopped right on and wanted to go down hill on the driveway. Waylon kept trying to slow him down and he just kept saying 'NO DADDY'. He wanted to do it himself. He knows what to do but can't quite pedal on his own yet but he's working on it hard. It won't be long before he really is doing it himself!

That night, we went out for quick dinner at Red Robin to celebrate. Noah got an ice cream sundae for dessert to celebrate - he ate the cherry and then was done - so guess who ate the ice cream!? :-)

Noah also got a new room for his birthday! We finally got it all put together and attempted to get him to sleep there last Wednesday. He wasn't having it and slept in his crib that night, so we tried again on Thursday night. I guess he didn't think he was ready until he was actually 2 years old because that night he slept there all night and hasn't looked back since. He has fallen out of the bed every night but hasn't woken up from it, so I guess it doesn't bother him! :-) We just put him back in bed and he stays asleep the whole time. We're hoping he'll get used to it soon and figure out how to stay in bed all night! Here are some pictures of his new digs...

Waylon was off on Friday, so we had a nice family day. Just ran some errands and stuck close to home. We went to dinner with some friends who were planning to go to a Durham Bulls game afterwards (we turned it down cause it started at bedtime) but at the last minute, Waylon decided to trade places with Jennie, so Waylon went to the game and Jennie and I stayed home on the couch and watched 2 girlie movies! What a treat for us both. :-)

Saturday morning was a little rough.... Noah had his first bike accident only 2 days after getting it (but who's surprised, really?). :-) He was going down a very small hill, put his feet down to stop and went over the handlebars. He must have been going in slow motion though cause he just got a fat lip but no major damage. I think it hurt pretty bad though cause he was pretty cranky most of the morning. To take his mind off of it, we went over to Maddie's house to play in the water with her and Stella Dot for about an hour. During nap time, I took off with Jennie to get a pedicure and lay by the pool - sans kid! Another treat!

Around 4:00, we met Waylon and Noah at our friends' Megan and Jason's house for a 4th of July cookout. It was such a good time - water toys and tricycles for the kids and corn hole and ladder ball for the other kids! :-) Here's a cute pic of Noah with Rory (one of the triplets). I love his expression here.

Sunday, we got Noah's playset!! The plan is for Waylon and his dad to put it together this coming weekend (while Noah and I are at the beach!). This was the last of Noah's many birthday presents - this goes on and on, huh? - from us and both sets of grandparents. Thanks everyone! Waylon got all the pieces sorted and labelled and has been working little by little on putting together some pieces of it during the evenings this week. Noah is so excited and loves seeing the progress each morning. The morning after Waylon got the slide put together, he had to 'go down it' - even though it was laying on the ground. He got on his 'booty' (as he calls it - no idea where he learned that!) and scooted accross the entire slide several times. Too funny.

Sunday morning was a little rough for me though... I flinched when Noah fell (no harm on this one) and when I did, my neck went out. Man, you don't realize how much you use your neck until you can't at all! I was out of commission most of the day and Waylon really picked up my slack. That evening, we went over to Nana and Grandad's house for yet another cookout! Savannah took her first steps and we were there to witness it!!! It was so exciting. She had fun pushing Noah around on the fire truck and Noah was very patient and slow so she wouldn't fall down. Very cute.

He also had fun pulling her around in this little wagon. It's so fun to watch them interact more and more. I can't believe they'll have another playmate soon!

Monday, I stayed home from work to let my neck recover and today I'm about 99% better. I'm glad it got better quickly cause it was miserable!

This weekend, Noah and I are off to the beach for a full week! This time, we are going with Grammy, Papa, Aunt Leah and Uncle Casey. We are so excited for the trip but especially excited to spend a full week with Leah and Casey who we don't get to see as much as everyone else. Waylon will be joining us on Tuesday night for the remainder of the week.

I'm hoping to post pictures throughout the week next week so I don't end up overwhelmed when we get back from vacation, so stay tuned!

Make sure you wear your helmet Noah. And don't worry, Tim & I have both endo'd (flipped over handlebars) many times. You'll be a superstar rider soon!
